Predeparture Jitters

So I did decide to try and post a blog after all. If it makes things any easier on me when I'm over in Japan, I figured it would be a good idea. Hopefully I will be able to post pictures and keep this site up to date so you can view it at your own leisure.

This week will be filled with preparations for the big trip. I've been spending tons-o-cash on clothes and stuff so that I look spiffy and professional at work. I've got a couple of dynamite suits, slick shoes and all that jazz, so I'm feeling very grown up.

I still have to finish preparing my lessons for the 5 days in Vancouver which will be integral to the rest of my experience. I hope that I can arrive in Tokyo confident, large and in charge. But there will be some very obvious and real obstacles awaiting me there. Of course the language barrier is the most daunting. Upon weighing my options (teaching 127 million Japanese English or learning Nihongo [Japanese]) I've decided to step up my language learning. All I can do so far is count and ask a few questions. However, since I won't understand the answers, that is little help to me.

So don't forget me while I'm gone - as that 80's pop tune used to go and I'll be seeing you all soon...ish.
